English rock guitarist Geoffrey Arnold Beck was born on 24 June 1944 and passed away on 10 January 2023.

He became well-known with the Yardbirds and later fronted Beck, Bogert & Appice, and the Jeff Beck Group. His releases spanned a variety of genres, including blues rock, hard rock, jazz fusion, and a blend of guitar rock and electronica. In 1975, he switched to a mostly instrumental style with an emphasis on innovative sound.

Rolling Stone and other publications’ lists of the 100 greatest guitarists included Beck among the top five. He was commonly referred to as a “guitarist’s guitarist.” He was called “one of the most influential lead guitarists in rock” by Rolling Stone. Even though Beck released two top-selling solo albums in 1975 and 1976, he did not achieve or maintain the same level of long-term commercial success as many of his peers and bandmates.
